MOSCOW. MAYAKOVSKY

mayakovsky monument

"There are two monuments to Mayakovsky in Moscow: one — a statue which he, most probablly, would not like, and another — metro station which he – captivated in industrial – undoubtedly would be delighted with.

It is very beautiful station — with walls from steel arches where the steel, basically, left uncovered, painted only minimally. Once these arches have seemed to me as huge cuts for hands in a gigantic waistcoat.  And in the next moment I already knew that this station represents.

Mayakovsky's steel jacket, - the imagination has told me.   The same way he wore the yellow blouse of futurist he appears now in a steel jacket of the giant."
